| 31.08.2025 This August, the Satellite Design School 2025 (SDS-25s) delivered on its promise — participants from universities and organizations across the world took their CubeSat designs from concept to mission-ready under the mentorship of spacecraft engineers. Keep track on Winter SDS-25/26! |
Program content
- CubeSat development concepts
- CubeSat mechanical design
- CubeSat power system
- CubeSat attitude control system
- CubeSat communication system
- CubeSat payload
- Management issues of CubeSat
- CubeSat operation
We will back up the theoretical material with my own practical experience in the development and operation of real satellites. I’m going to provide participants with a possibility to get firsthand experience from CubeSat developers.
Participants of the summer school will join a communication session with Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology satellite ReshUCube-1 on orbit. And also OKB5’s satellites Norby-1 and Norby-2
School outcomes
The school implies online intensive project training of nanosatellites design. Participants will enrich their knowledge and get useful experience during lectures and practical classes. As a result of the school program the teams of participants will present individual projects of different Cubesat space missions.
School participants will receive a Certificate of 80 hours (3 credits) on “Introduction to the design of CubeSat class satellite”.
Participants will have an opportunity to communicate with specialists conducting theoretical and practical research in this field.

School’s Partners

OKB5
OKB Fifth Generation is the official partner of Roscosmos space agency, takes part in projects like GLONASS, Spektr-UV, Luna- 26.
OKB is developing its commercial space communication project LEOLINK (low speed internet in remote inaccessible areas and IoT).
OKB has developed and launched two CubeSats (Norby-1 in 2020 and Norby-2 in 2023), both satellites are still in orbit.
GRID cloud service developed by OKB5 provides TT&C opportunities.
Reshetnev Siberian State University of Science and Technology
The University conducts a large number of aerospace developments (onboard control systems, electrical power systems, mechanical and antenna systems, etc.).
The University has a rich experience in small satellites development and operation: small satellites Yubileyny-1 (RS-30) and Yubileyny-2 (RS 40) were launched in 2008 and 2012.
ReshUCube-1 was launched on August 9, 2022. ReshUCube-2 is scheduled to June 2023 to be launched. ReshUCube-3 is under development.
Reshetnev University Mission Control Center allows controlling satellites and receiving telemetry from them.
